In a professional landscape that has shifted from the frantic energy of the dotcom boom to the algorithmic precision of the artificial intelligence era, few leaders possess the perspective of Lisa Sacchetti. As the founder of The Renaissance Network, she has spent over three decades navigating the turbulent waters of specialized recruiting.
Her firm, established in 1995, has become a cornerstone for talent acquisition in the education technology and broader technology sectors. We recently sat down with Lisa to discuss how her firm has evolved, the ways AI is streamlining the recruitment back-office, and why, despite the rise of automated tools, the "human touch" remains the most valuable currency in the marketplace.
The Evolution of a Specialist
Navigate EdTech: To begin, could you provide us with a background on your journey and the history of The Renaissance Network?
Lisa: I started the Renaissance Network in 1995, shortly after I finished graduate school with a master’s degree in human resources. At the time, I was working at Boston Edison and assisting with recruiting and training. It was there that I first interacted with a "head hunter." I was fascinated by the way they could bring talent into an organization. Although I was young and perhaps a bit naive, I decided that this was exactly what I wanted to do. I interviewed at a few established firms but ultimately decided to start my own venture. This coincided with the very beginning of the dot-com era, which was a fantastic time to enter the world of technology recruiting.
By the year 2000, I realized that to be truly effective in this industry, one must specialize. I chose to focus on the emerging field of education technology. Over the last 25 years, I have worked to own that space, helping companies grow through multiple market iterations. Our business is subject to the ups and downs of the economy; we have seen four major downturns, but we have always remained committed to finding great talent. Whether we are building out leadership teams for interactive whiteboard pioneers in 2008 or working with AI-literacy companies today, the core mission remains the same.
Lisa founded The Renaissance Network in 1996 with the mission of building world-class teams and quickly developed a focus on the growing Education and Technology vertical. An inspirational and dedicated CEO, she has made this vision a reality by creating and leading a diverse and talented team at TRN with a mandate to deliver unrivalled service characterized by a commitment to excellence.
